A-to-Z 2015 Q is for Quiet

Quiet. Peaceful. Silence. Out in the countryside, away from the cities and towns, one can sit and listen as the peaceful breeze blows down the valley, bird song drifting gently on the wind.  Grandma taught me the value of being still and quiet. It’s not easy for me, even now. But with practice I get better at calming my mind and listening the countryside.  I live in town, but there is a small river near by. Walking along the river bank listening the water bubbling, the ducks and geese quacking and honking, many other birds chirping and tweeting. Sitting on the porch in her rocker, Grandma taught me to enjoy the peace and quiet.

This is probably one of the best things children can learn that will serve them for the rest of their lives.

I recently moved from a large city to Scotland, quite rural and oh so quiet. I love nature and peacefulness. Good for the soul that connection. Great post, look forward to reading more 🙂

Thanks for dropping by! Scotland is on my list of places to visit 🙂 My family came to the States from Wales back in the late 1700’s.

I do love the water! I grew up on a lake and it was also so peaceful first thing in the morning. Thanks for dropping by and sharing your thoughts.

So important. So much meditation or mindfulness is based on going to that quiet place in your head or your “special place”.. This hads been hard for me as I’m not that good at sitting still but that’s where walking is good.

Being the best one can be is not easy. It takes effort. Everyone has areas they struggle with. Mine is sitting still too 🙂
