Weekend Coffee Share Security Edition

Weekend Coffee Share UPDATE

What a busy week. Let’s sit down and have a chat over coffee or tea or whatever your favorite beverage is. How was your week? Sorry I missed the weekend coffee share last weekend. My lovely wife and I were on a six state road trip where we hit five more state capitals. Photos of the capitol buildings should get updated next week. The week itself was a little busy. I found some code that adds the Follow Blog button back on the website and wrote a note about that.

The blog’s security got an upgrade, so if you see or experience any oddities, please let me know. I wrote a little about that adventure.  Traffic is slowly creeping back up to BHG (Before Host Gator) levels. (WARNING: Shameless begging follows) If you find the opportunity to mention Down Home Thoughts in a post or a comment, I would greatly appreciate it. There are a few original followers that have not “found me” after the move. I hope your week is going the way you had planned, or at least reasonably close.  There was a nice article on getting motivated, if you missed it.

The Grand Experiment

My lovely bride and I have gotten up Oh Dark Thirty and going for a two-mile walk every weekday morning for the last two weeks. This is an experiment to see how hard it is for us to establish a new habit. Make it stop! Seriously I think the 3rd and 4th days were the worst. Thank goodness for weekends! We sleep in for a while before our walk, but we still walk. This is part research for the character book and part being healthier. Speaking of the character book, it’s over half done! If you have not taken the survey on “What’s important to you?” please follow the link and take it. If you have thank you and please share it with your friends. The survey will be closing late on June 15th.

Enjoy your weekend coffee share and don’t forget to write your own post and head over Parttime Monster and add yourself to the linky.

I’ve heard that on average it takes about 3 weeks to create a habit. So you are already one-third of the way there! What a great way to find quiet time to spend with your wife and to start the day with some exercise!

Hi Karen, thanks for stopping by. I read in the research I’m doing for my book that to solidly form a new habit takes 66 days on average. Of course some people were as little as 3 weeks and some were 3 months. It also depended on how much of a change the habit was. 🙂 Smaller changes took root sooner.

I’ve gotten up early for the past few days and I’m feeling very “make it stop!” also. I don’t think I can possibly do a 5am wakeup three days in a row, so I’ll probably sleep in tomorrow.

Thanks for dropping by Diana. Not sure why, but you ended up in my spam bucket. Glad I checked before dumping it 🙂

You should be able to use your WordPress login. If not, please let their support team know. I have JetPack installed and have the WordPress Single Sign On option enabled. I’ve been little issues ever since I moved. All the major items have been resolved, but there are a few things that still seem to misbehave 😛
