How Do I Improve My Life?
Take action. How do I improve my life? Identify a change and take action to make it.
Simply reading about improvement or just hoping to improve wastes time. You must take action!
Where do I start?
It is best to start small and enlist help.Self improvement does not mean do it by your self. Find a good friend or mentor that you respect. Someone from which you can accept criticism. Discuss what you are trying to do. Maybe the improvement you want to make is being on time for your appointments or perhaps it is to develop trust with your boss or team mates.
If you know you want to improve, you need to find a specific area and a way to measure it. Just “getting better” is not a goal. There is no way to track improvement. Make a list of things about yourself that would like to improve. Work with your friend or mentor to prioritize the list. Start with the most important one. What ever it is, ask yourself these questions:
- What two or three things can I do to improve or make progress on this everyday?
- How do I measure progress?
- How often can I meet with my friend for mentor to discuss success, failures, etc?
- Why is this important to me?
Write down the answers. I recommend a journal or notebook. Recording your list, goals, answers and thoughts will help you and your mentor better understand any challenges or failures that happen along your improvement journey. Remember that failures are only failure if you quit. Often a failure will teach us if we allow it.
How do I improve my life? Take action.
