What does community mean to you? Is just where you live or is it more? Can you live with out it? Today’s Friday Foto wants to know!
A community is a place. It is the people. Music, art, food, all color your community. It is more than the buildings that house it and the land upon which it is built. There are physical communities, online groups and meeting with those of similar interests. All of these are various types of communities. Some are a once a month or maybe once a week commitment, but others can need much more involvement
A quick peek at Dictonary.com says it is:
A rather cold definition. Community is part of what makes home a place of refuge. It is a place to turn for help and a place to offer help. I believe that it is more than a group of people who share something in common. It is people who watch out for each other and take care of one another.
It does not matter whether you live in a quaint little farming town or in a high-rise condo in the big city. You can choose to be a good neighbor. You can follow your conscience and be a person of good character. Be the one who contributes to your group and not just exists. Take a chance and be a contributing member of society.
Community, like most things in life, is what you make of it.
