Weekend Coffee Share Busy Edition

Weekend coffee share busy edition

If we were having a nice cup of coffee, I would be saying, “Wow, between wandering, working and writing, I haven’t had much time to stop and blog.” I have to tell you that I’ve started a new job, done a bit of weekend wandering and entered a short story contest at our local senior center writing club. The group has two published authors in regular attendance so I don’t feel too bad that my work came in fourth. Realizing my manners, I would quickly offer a beverage of your choice, hot or iced. Thus begins the Weekend Coffee Share busy edition.

Projects?

weekend coffee share busy editionI hope things are going well with you and yours. What projects are you working? Any new and interesting developments? Me? Well, I’m still chipping away at my book, Forging Character. I have another in the “thought stage.” The new book is a work of science fiction. I may blog a bit about when I have more than a couple of pages of notes. Working the new job of course is a huge time consumer. I have a lot to learn and some really great opportunities. What’s going on with you? Is there anything that I can do to help?

Happening things

Speaking of everything that is going on, what do you want to see more of from this blog? I have many interests, hobbies and thoughts. All of which I am happy to share, but if no one really cares, then I have other activities that I can purse. What do you want to see here?

Please take the poll below.

Weekend Coffee Share Safari Edition

Weekend Coffee Share Safari Edition

Since we are having coffee, I would inform you of a tale I have to tell. As you may or may not have noticed, I was absent from the Weekend Coffee Share last week. My lovely wife kidnaped me and banished all electronics in celebration of my natal anniversary. The Weekend Coffee Share Safari Edition is about this great weekend. I hope your last week has been stupendous.

My lovely wife arranged for a photo safari at Fossil Rim Wildlife preserve. We stayed at the Lodge inside the preserve. It reminds me a bit of the movie Hatari. If you haven’t seen it, I highly recommend it. It’s one of the lessor known John Wayne movies. The weekend felt like what I imagine living in Africa would be like.

Our guide was born in Kenya and his knowledge of the animals and the park are amazing. The professional photographer that accompanied our group of eight intrepid travelers displayed an equal degree of expertise. Everyone benefited from his many tips and suggestions about how to take better wildlife photographs.

Sorry for rambling on so, but it was a truly phenomenal weekend. Here are a few sample shots from the weekend. I will be putting up a photo album with more of my favorites after I get them all loaded.

I enjoy our coffee time together. I wish you well in the weeks ahead and may your endeavors yield the fruit that you desire.

Weekend Coffee Share Birthday Edition

Weekend Coffee Share Birthday Edition

Familiar Newness Weekend coffee shareIf we were having coffee I would tell you that it’s been a great week. What is going on your world? My new job is awesome. My lovely wife and I have done a couple of fun road trips around Texas and tomorrow is my birthday. My birthday is the original Memorial Day, which I now refer to as bureaucratic Memorial Day. Damn Gubmint has to fool around all kinds of things they ort to leave alone. Anyway, this Weekend Coffee Share Birthday Edition chats about a few of those things. I hope things are going well for you and yours. Remember, life is what you make of it. Since my wife and I love to travel, we hit the road as often as possible to see what we can see.

Road Trips

This weekend we have been to Wichita Falls and Paris. Both in Texas. We had a great time traveling back and forth across north Texas and Oklahoma. Here are a few shots from the trip.

Weekend Coffee Share Great Things Edition

Weekend Coffee Share Great Things Edition

Weekend coffee share work editionIf we were having coffee, I would tell you why this blog entry title is Weekend Coffee Share Great Things Edition! It is because I recorded my voice demo at a two-hour studio session last week. It was amazing. If you have an interest in finding out more about being a voice actor, you can check out Voice Coaches. i did my first training with them and recorded my demo. I should have my final cut off the demo in about 2 weeks. If you know of anyone that uses voice talent, I would love to get their contact info so that I can send them my demo. I hope that everything is moving along in your world and if not going exactly according to plan, that it’s at least in the general direction.

A New Direction

Sometimes things don’t always go the way you have planned, but they usually work out for the better. I have also accepted a full-time position with a company in the Dallas area. This is really exciting for me because they offer software to an industry that I am very interested in and always look for opportunities to learn more. That area is real estate. The company delivers software as a service to apartment owners and investors to better manage their investment. I will be starting my new adventure a week from Monday. While i will be doing many of the same things, I have a whole new system and sets of teams to learn. I love learning new things and I am looking forward to a new adventure.

The Fun Front

My lovely wife and I made an appearance at Scarborough Faire Renaissance Festival. We spent the day wandering back through time amid lords, ladies, knights, damsels, wenches, pirates, fairies, trolls, dragons and bards. There many interesting shows, stories and craft demonstrations. One of my favorites was the Fire Whip. The guy doing the show supposedly has nine Guinness world records. I have not verified this, but after watching his show, it is definitely believable.

My top pick though was the amazing presentation by the royal falconer. He had many birds of prey in various stages of training. Learning about the training regimen for both the falconer and his or her bird was very interesting. It takes over 1000 hours before the team is ready to start training to take down prey. This is called “manning” the bird. Essentially getting it used to humans. The team also takes in wounded birds of prey and attempts to rehabilitate them and return them to the wild. The organization is Last Chance Forever.
